I felt weird reading it all and then not acknowledging you in some small way. not that you ring up authors after putting down a good book - fun as that would be. it wasn't meant just to flatter. You're a really good writer, I guess I just wanted you to know someone was reading...
I guess that's what's weird about blogging. some days it cane seem intensely personal, like your wrting just for yourself or to one person. Other days your getting anonymous emails from across the globe. Do you write with a reader in mind?
why do you keep it semi-hidden from friends, nightwatchman readers? once it's up there is it a way of you looking at it almost as a reader to see if it works? That seems to be how it works with art online certainly. Something about fresh eyes. I should stop commenting now as its probably driving you a bit nuts. cheers.
I had this very conversation with a friend yesterday. He agrees with you and even reckons I should be putting this wordy stuff on The Nightwatchman.
But I like to keep my writing neat, in little boxes. Blogs make good boxes, much better than anything you can get at Harry's Storage World. I met Harry once. Nice bloke. Sounded German.
And yes, putting stuff straight online really quickens the 'cold light of day' editing process.
sorry Glenn I couldnt help but chime in (yet again). I understand the desire to keep it all 'in seperate boxes' as you put it. Nightwatchman has a very particular tone, a more public one. There is a confidence in that tone, in AWT it's the same voice but different tone, a quiet one, reflective. It was the almost private nature of it that I found so interesting. It was a treat to find it. I hope you don't feel too overly observed! I plan to completely shut up now and let you get on with it! My intention was just to say I really like reading what you write. I know sometimes that is super to hear. Howards Storage... a catalogue so full of promise.. a box for every purpose.

your poetry is so sad and quiet. like something you've said under your breath or before falling asleep. very beautiful.
Why, I'm flattered.

And thank you.
That's the funny about writing this site.
Because of its early draft/poetry bent, I don't tell too many of my friends about it.
Eventually I forget its out there for people to read.
Again, thanks.

Nah, there's no particular reader I write for.
I only write here to try to get the words right.
It's much better out here than half arsed and lost in notebooks and harddrives.

Exactamondo.
Oh yeah, my deceptively large ego told me to tell you that I really enjoy the chimin' and observin'.... a lot. Too much, perhaps.
Again, thanks.
